Common Ground for America

Americans with deep ties to their immigrant heritage embrace the core values of democracy, diversity, and respect that motivated them or their ancestors to come to the United States in the first place.

To rekindle these values among ethnic groups and rebuild the connections that unite us as Americans, Civica Initiatives is launching Common Ground for America, a new non-partisan voter education initiative.

The Challenges.

The United States is fracturing around cultural, economic, and political fault lines. Some believe our increasingly multi-ethnic society is the cause of this fracture.

We know, however, that Americans with a deep tie to their immigrant heritage continue to embrace the core values that make this the Land of Opportunity.

Those values and our shared immigrant story strengthen the common ground on which we stand as a nation.

The Solution.

Civica Initiatives is working with ethnic leaders to:

1

Develop materials and messaging tailored to communities.

2

Link core values to policies and behavior, including respect for differences, civility in politics, protection of voting rights, and continued global leadership in the fight for democracy.

3

Enable ethnic leaders to communicate with their community members through gatherings and social media.

4

Promote the importance of ethnic Americans factoring in those values when voting.
